  Alice Granbery Walter incorrectly read the name Capt Leml Langley as Capt Saml Langley in her 1969 transcription of the vestry book. She was likely influenced by Rogers Dey Whichard's misreading of the same entry ten years earlier in History of Lower Tidewater Virginia. It was Whichard who made Walter aware of the existence of the vestry book.
