  	Odin enlisted as a Private in the US Marine Corps on 10 May 1918. His first station was Company D Marine Barracks at Parish Island, South Carolina. By July 1918, he was stationed at the Headquarters Overseas Depot at Quantico, Virginia. He served in France and Germany in the Advanced Expeditionary Force with the 96th Company, 6th Regiment from 18 August 1918 until 8 August 1919.

  	The 1940 census notes that Odin was working as a sales personnel manager in Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Odin was working for the Mercantile Bank of the Americas in New York City in August 1919 when his employers transferred him to an affiliate bank in Managua, Nicaragua for a two year stint.
