  	In 1846 Enoch sold a three story house located at the foot of Main Street on the Herbertsville side of the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River in Norfolk County. The sale was made on behalf of the heirs of his father, Maximillian Herbert. The buyer of the Herbert residence was Thomas Asbury Hardy, a native of Bertie County, North Carolina. It is of interest to note that one of Mr. Hardy's daughters, "Pinkie", who was born in the house [by then known as Riveredge] married Arthur MacArthur there in May of 1875. They were the parents of Gen. Douglas MacArthur. This house had been the home of his grandparents, Caleb and Ann Nicholson Herbert. Caleb had heired the residence to his son Maximillian from whom, at his death, it had passed into the hands of his children. The area known as Herbertsville during the late 1700's and early 1800's has subsequently been known as Washington Point and Berkley. The town of Berkley was annexed to Norfolk City in 1909.
