  	Richard died during January or early February 1706, within days of making his will.

  	Richard's will is unusual in that it is made up of a will and three codicils; all signed within a two day period. Among other items noted therein, the second codicil appointed "my Said wife [Elizabeth] my Executrix and my Son Joseph my Executor". Richard signed his will and codicils 1 and 2 on 5 January 1705/6. Codicil 3 was signed the following day, on 6 January 1705/6. On each of the four documents, his signature and seal were witnessed by Mathew Godfrey, William Nicholson and John Hebdon.

  	The will and its 3 codicils were proved before the Norfolk County Court by the oaths of all the witnesses on 15 February 1705/6, and ordered to be recorded.

  	Richard was one of the two representatives from Lower Norfolk County at the Grand Assembly of the 1676 Virginia House of Burgesses sessions that met from 5 June to 25 June 1676 in Jamestown.

  	Twenty-three years later, Richard again represented his home county, now renamed Norfolk County, at the Grand Assembly of the Virginia House of Burgesses sessions that met from 27 April to 8 June 1699 in Williamsburg, the newly established capitol of the Virginia Colony.
