  	George was first listed as a tithable to Col. William Craford on 10 June 1734 on the Norfolk County enumeration for the south side of the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River. Tithables must have attained the age of 16 years by the date of the listing.

  	George served as one of the two Norfolk County representatives in the Virginia House of Burgesses, the lower body of the Virginia General Assembly, during the 1756 - 1758 session.

  	"Majr. John Willoughby and Capt. George Veale this day Attended the Vestry on the invitation of the 30th Ulto. [prior month] and they having taken the Oaths of Vestry-men and subscribed the Test took their places Accordingly."

  	However, in November 1759, George accepted the office of Norfolk County Sheriff. He resigned as a Burgess for the balance of the 1758 -1761 session and was succeeded in that capacity by William Bradley. George was again elected as a Burgess for the 1758 - 1761 session.

  	At the death of Col. William Craford in 1762, the major portion of his lands and unsold Portsmouth Town lots went to George and Thomas Veale. The year 1763 saw Portsmouth's first annexation, when Thomas Veale's inherited property was added to the town, extending the western boundary to Chestnut Street. That same year Portsmouth Town Trustees were named. This group was composed of Andrew Sprowle, George Veale, Thomas Veale, Charles Steuart, Humphrey Roberts, Francis Miller, James Rae, David Purcell and Amos Etheridge.

  	George's will stated that he was a resident of Portsmouth Parish. It appointed his brother Thomas Veale, his son Samuel Veale and his son-in-law David Porter as executors of his estate. He signed the will on 16 January 1776. His signature was witnessed by [torn] Bailey, William Hodges, David Murray, James Hodges and Tenant Scott.
