  	On 29 Oct 1784, Asa certified to the Selectmen of Townsend "that Jerusha Carter came from Luningburge to live with me 15 Jul 1784." Asa would, after the 1788 death of his first wife Rebekah, marry Jerusha. But his 1784 statement to the Selectmen was to advise them that his family had taken in an individual from out of town for whom they would now be responsible.

  	Asa's will was dated 16 May 1821 in Keen, New York. He appointed his wife Jerusha as his executrix. Aden Hull, Samuel Shipman and Mary Shipman witnessed Asa's signature on the document. Asa's will names four individuals without noting a familial relationship to them; Harriet & William Still, Thomas Warren Heald and Otis Heald. Harriet, William and Thomas are likely his children, but, to date, no primary evidence has been found to support such a relationship.
