- Flora was 55 years old at the time of her death. She would have turned 56 in November of 1929. The information concerning Flora's age given by her husband, Columbus Virneslon, as informant for her death certificate was incorrect. Columbus reported that his wife was 46 years old at the time of her death, making her 9 years younger than she actually was, and suggesting a birth year of 1882.
- Flora was enumerated in the 1880 census. Had she been born in 1882, she could not have been counted in that enumeration.
- By at least June 1900, Flora had begun to misstate her age in public records. She was enumerated in the 1900 census as being 21 years, with a birth date of October 1878. She was, actually, 26 years old. This practice of making herself younger than she was continued throughout her life. This practice was exacerbated by the fact that she did not marry until she was 40 years of age, and her husband was 9 years her junior.
