  	The exact date of George's immigration to the Massachusetts Bay Colony is unknown. But his participation in the original settlement of the Musketaquid Valley by English families places him in the Colony by the fall of 1635.

  	On 2 September 1635, the General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony granted Mr. Peter Bulkeley, Maj. Simon Willard, Rev. John Jones and twelve others the liberty to start a new settlement to be called Concord. According to the Act of Incorporation "it is ordered that there shall be a plantation att Musketaquid, and that there shall be 6 myles of land square to belonge to it...." George was among the group of settlers who left New Towne during September and October 1635 on their way to the Musketaquid Valley where they would begin the settlement of Concord.

  	George was granted freemanship within the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Bay Colony during March 1637/8. The prerequisite for obtaining this status was proof of one's membership and good standing in a Congregational Church. The Freeman's Oath legally bound the individual to the government of the colony, and thereby, its laws and orders. Additionally, the Oath required participation by the individual in local and colonial affairs when called upon.

  	The town records show that by 1655 George owned 10 lots in the South Quarter of Concord, comprised of 505 acres.

  	On 8 March 1654/5, George was among nine men, three from each of the "Quarters", chosen to act as a public overseer.

  	As early as 1664, George had built a saw mill and corn mill south of the Iron Works in the Southwest part of Concord. At some time prior to his untimely death in March 1671, George had sold his house which fronted on the Common, his barn and his land near the mill-pond to Mr. Bulkeley, and had built a new house and barn adjacent to his mills.

  	The Concord records state that "George heaward senr husband to mary his wife died 29 march 71." A jury of inquest found that George was "overthrowne by the strength of the streame and so drowned in the river by the iron workes as he was returning to goe home after he had bien healping william ffrizell over the river in a Cannoe". The river mentioned was known as the North River during the Colonial period and is known today as the Assabet River.

  	An inventory and appraisal of George's estate was taken by Mr. Peter Bulkley, Capt. Timothy Wheeler and Mr. John Smedly, Sr. on 7 April 1671. The estate, which was appraised at £506.08.08, listed a corn mill, a dwelling house by the mill, 1/16 part of the iron works, 12 acres of land adjacent to the iron works pond and the mill ditch, and 184 acres of wilderness land.
