  	Judith was, most likely, born in Wedmore Parish in Somerset, England. However, no extant baptismal entry has been found for her in the local parish records. The 1634/5 passenger list for the "Planter" notes Judith's age as 16.

  	At some time before the Spring of 1635, Judith made the journey of approximately 160 miles from her home in Wedmore, Somerset to Stepney Parish in London. She apparently bound herself as a domestic servant to Nicholas Davies. Nicholas was a tailor who resided in Wapping, a hamlet within Stepney Parish. Entering domestic service as a young teenager and continuing in such employment until marriage was the normal expectation of girls from farming, craft and laboring families.

  	On 22 March 1634/5, Judith was enrolled at London as a passenger for New England on the Planter. The Planter sailed from London during April and arrived at Boston on 7 June 1635. "These under-written names are to be embarqued in the Planter Nic. Tratice Mr, bound for New-England p. certificate from Stepney pish, and attestacon from S. Tho Jay and Mr Simon Muskett Justices of the Peace. the Men have taken the oaths of Supremacie and Allegeance."
