  	John was enumerated as a land holder in the "North Quarter" of Concord in town records of about 1665. His property, located North of that of his mother Dorothy, was comprised of 4 lots, totaling 86 acres.

  	The official lists of the Massachusetts soldiers serving in King Philip's War note that a "John Heale" served under Major Simon Willard from 7 August 1675 to 25 January 1675/6 during the march to the relief for Brookfield, Massachusetts. The moniker of Sargent may have come from this period of military service, although there is nothing in the record to suggest such a rank.

  	An account, dated 24 February 1679/80, found among the Concord town records, states that John was one of thirteen local men elected that year to serve as a Tythingman. The tythingmen were town officers elected annually to preserve good order in the church during services, to enforce the observance of the Sabbath by church members and to seek out and report any disorderly conduct within the town limits.

  	The inventory and appraisal of John's estate, taken by Simon Davis, Samuel Davis and Roger Chandler, was presented at Middlesex County Court by John Heald [Jr]. Curiously, the only date that appears in the file is "17th June 1689", the death date of John Heald [Sr]. The date of the inventory and of the Court appearance are missing.

  Notes	John Heald's 1662 Concord will names his three eldest children and speaks of five unnamed children who are under the age of 21 years. There are extant birth records for only three of the five unnamed children. Numerous old genealogies and recently Threlfall's Fifty Great Migration Colonists To New England & Their Origins add Thomas Heald and Isaac Heald as the two Heald children for whom there are no birth records. No primary evidence has been found to support these claims.

  	The couple entered into a covenanted marriage agreement on 10 June 1661 in Concord. The marriage would have been executed by a local magistrate at a private home, as early Massachusetts law stated that marriage was a civil contract, not a religious sacrament. In fact, it was against the law for a minister to marry a couple until 1686.
