  	The 31 Dec 1899 birth date for Charlie that is noted on his death certificate and, also, on his tombstone is incorrect. At some point after 1951, Charlie decided to "change" his birth date by one day, making it the last day of the last year of the 19th century. His wife, Virgina, perpetuated this "change" as she was the informant for the information on his death certificate and on his tombstone.

  	On 31 October 1910 in Lenoir County, North Carolina Superior Court, Charlie was named as the orphan of C.T. Randolph. John Hudson, Charlie's brother-in-law, qualified as his guardian.

  	According to his World War I draft registration card, Charlie was working for E.V. Webb & Company at their Heritage Street tobacco warehouse in Kinston, North Carolina in 1918.

  	In May 1942 Charlie was working for T.A. Loving and Company of Goldsboro, North Carolina. The company specialized in bridge building and heavy construction. Charlie's WWII draft card indicates that he was involved in the construction of the Marine Corp Air Station at Cherry Point, North Carolina. During the early years, he often found January through June employment at the Newport News Shipyard in Newport News, Virginia. For most of his life, Charlie worked in the tobacco industry. He followed the triple circuit: July-August, the Georgia market, September-October, the North Carolina market and November-December, the Kentucky/Tennessee Burley market. At various times Charlie was employed by American Tobacco Company, Austin Carolina Tobacco Company and E.V. Webb & Company as a tobacco buyer. He was, also, successful for many years as an independent speculator working for himself.

  	Charlie died at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, North Carolina at 8:25pm on 12 July 1966. He was 66 years old at the time of his death. Cause of death was noted as carcinomatosis due to primary squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. Other significant conditions noted include diabetes mellitus and arteriosclerotic heart disease.
