  (http://www.militaryheritage.org/DARNGEfate.html) The 945th AA Automatic Weapons Battalion also moved to New Guinea, then went on to Leyte and Japan, where it was inactivated on Feb. 28, 1946. Colonel Harry W. Orth of the 198th became the first commanding officer of the 945th and was succeeded by Major Allen F. Kemske also of the original 198th. He was the very last of the original officers to return from the Pacific having served a total of 46 months.
