- Paul joined the DuPont Company as a production foreman at their Chambers Works chemical plant in Deepwater, New Jersey in 1924. In 1925 he was transfered to the Rayon Division of DuPont. And in 1932 he moved to the Cellophane Division of the company.
- In 1942, Paul was promoted to plant manager of DuPont's Spruance Cellophane Plant in Richmond. By the time of his retirement on 1 January 1961, Paul had served as plant manager at all of DuPont's Cellophane plants: the Spruance plant in Richmond, the Old Hickory plant in Tennessee, the Clinton, Iowa plant and the Yerkes Plant in Buffalo, New York.
- Paul rose through the ranks of production jobs and moved into management positions necessitating moves to Old Hickory, Tennessee and Richmond, Virginia; then back to Old Hickory and once again to Richmond.
