  	From October 1834 through September 1840, Margaret' uncle, Joel Holleman served as her legal guardian. Expenditures listed in the guardian accounts suggest that Margaret "boarded" with her aunt Rebekah Holleman Gwaltney, wife of Ludwell Gwaltney, from the time of her father's death in early 1834 until December 1835 when it appears that she moved to the home of Joseph Pretlow.

  	On 4 September 1840, Thomas Wrenn, husband of Margaret Holleman Wrenn, acknowledged final settlement of his share of William Holleman's estate. The Isle of Wight County Court confirmed the accounts and ordered them to be recorded on 7 December 1840.
