  	Jacob was one of the original 72 Grantees to be allotted land in North Town [Townshend], Massachusetts on 11 May 1720. Jacob paid one hundred shillings for his one-eightieth part of the town. He was obligated to build a house and to plow and fence at least three acres of land withing a three year period from the date that his land was surveyed. Another obligation of the Grantees commitment stated that he was "to Settle & Inhabit the Same in his Own propr person and Not have Liberty In Any Way whatsoever to Sell or Alienate or any Ways Dispose of his Intest or Allottmt" without the permissionof the Granting Committee. Jacob's land was on the extreme north end of Nissequassick Hill, almost to the province line.

  	Jacob was killed on 8 May 1725 by Pequawket Indians on the banks of Saco Pond near, what is now Fryeburg, Maine, but what was then part of Massachusetts. He was 31 years old at the time of his death. Capt. John Lovewell had led his company of thirty-two Massachusetts Rangers into battle against the Indians that morning. By midnight, Lovewell and eleven of his men were dead. Three others, wounded during the fight, died before reaching home.

  	Several days after the fight, Colonel Tygn journeyed to the area of the fight, located the twelve bodies and buried them on the Field of Battle.
