  	A 26 February 1765 entry in the records of the Townshend Proprietors notes that Sarah Conant was keeping a tavern and inn at her home. The Conant house is frequently mentioned in Townshend records and Middlesex County records of the time as the meeting place of various local and county committees. During the later years of Sarah's life and after her death, the tavern was run first by her son Nathan and later by his son John.

Of particular interest in the inventory, was the listing of several books. Among them: 2 old Bibles Pilgrims Progress The Life [and Diary] of Mr. [David] Brainerd Joseph Alleine's Works Enquiry After Happiness by [Richard Lucas, D. D.] Benjamin Colman [A] Guide to Christ by [Solomon Stadard] Another item of interest was Meeting House pew 16, that Sarah had owned since the drawing on 5 January 1773.
