  	Amelia served as the light house keeper at Old Port Comfort Light House from 1857 until 1861. Old Point Comfort Lighthouse marks the entrance to historic Hampton Roads, a substantial harbor situated at the mouths of the James, Nansemond and Elizabeth Rivers. There has been a beacon on the point since 1775.
