  	Nicholas served as a Justice for Elizabeth City County in 1700. Two years later, in 1702, he was appointed Sheriff.

  	Nicholas served as an Elizabeth City County delegate to the Virginia House of Burgesses during April and May 1705, when he replaced Anthony Armistead who had died during the fourth session of the 1703 - 1705 Assembly.

  	In a letter "To the Com'rs of the Customs" in London, dated 24 October 1710, Lieutenant-Governor Alexander Spotswood, announced his acceptance of the resignation of Col. William Wilson as Naval Officer of the Lower District of the James River, and the appointment of Mr. Nicholas Curle as the new Naval Officer. The letter stated that Col. Wilson had recommended Curle for the position. The letter did not note that Nicholas Curle was Wilson's son-in-law.

  	Nicholas served again in the House of Burgesses during the three Assemblies of 1710 - 1712 and during the first two Assemblies of 1712 - 1714.

  	Nicholas' will appointed his wife Jane as executrix and George Walker, John Curle and Henry Jenkins as executors. Nicholas signed his will on 12 August 1714. His signature and seal were witnessed by Richard Thompson, William Bowtell, James Ricketts and John Roe.

  	According to information presented in the 1742/3 Elizabeth City County ejectment suit John Denn v. Richard Wilson et al, Nicholas died on 15 August 1714.

  	The will was proved in Elizabeth City County Court on 15 September 1714 by the oaths of William Bowtell, James Ricketts and John Roe. Consent for probate was granted to Jane Curle, Executrix, and the will was duly recorded.

  	Jane apparently did not proceed immediately with the probate of Nicholas' will. For on 15 February 1715/16 Henry Jenkins and John Curle were granted probate. And on 21 Mar 1715/16, "James Ricketts & Jane his wife Late Jane Curle" were added to the list of participating Executors.

  	An inventory and appraisal of Nicholas' estate ordered by the court in February 1715/16 was returned by William Bowtell, Edward Kearny and Thomas Tucker in July 1716.

  	Court orders for final settlement of Nicholas' estate had not been met as late as June 1745.

  	The Estate was finally settled on 16 July 1745 by Joseph Banister, Jacob Walker and William Westwood. It was presented to the Court on 17 July 1745 and duly recorded.
