  	Samuel and his brothers, Thomas and Pasco, emigrated from England and settled in the Virginia Colony. The actual dates of their departures are not known. Their moves were likely a result of the stipulations in their mother's September 1675 will that coerced each of them to release his interest in the estate of their brother John and of their father Nicholas in favor of their brother Joshua.

  	On 30 October 1690, Samuel and Thomas Morgan signed an appraisal that they had made of the estate of John Smythe, silversmith. This is the first mention of Samuel in the extant records of Elizabeth City County.

  	Samuel purchased 1/2 acre of town land some time between 18 January 1691/2 and 18 July 1692. The record of this deed has been lost, but the index for the record is extant. Proof of Samuel's ownership of property is substantiated by the legal description of land purchased in October 1696 by Robert Tucker: "1/2 ac in town land of Southampton on Southampton R.....", and "bounded upon King Street 3 chains 33/100, south on Mr. Samll. Curles..." The Hampton River and the town of Hampton were originally named "Southampton".

  	"I, Samuell Curle,...constitute...my loving brother Pascho Curle to be my atty to receive debts & money due..." This Letter of Attorney, dated 25 December 1694, was signed by Samuel and witnessed by Charles Jenings and Joshua Curle. The document was proved before the Elizabeth City County Court on 18 February 1694/5.

  	The last mention of Samuel, found to date, in the extant records of Elizabeth City County concerns the Court's continuation of a suit brought by Henry Curle against Samuel.
