  	By the summer of 1855, Elizabeth was again living in Portsmouth. She died during the yellow fever epidemic which devasted the populations of Portsmouth, Gosport and Norfolk, VA during July, August and September of that year.

  	Elizabeth had never married, and left no childen. She willed her entire estate to her niece, Agnes Sarah Herbert, daughter of Francis C. & Elizabeth S. Herbert. Included in the estate was a home and lot on Widow's Point in Portsmouth, which had belonged to Capt. Thomas "Silverfist" Herbert, Elizabeth's great-uncle.
