  	Joyce's birth date has been established by a deposition that she made in Lower Norfolk County Court on 15 August 1671 as witness to the nuncupative will of James Craig. Joyce stated that she was "aged 50 years or thereabout".

  	Joyce was one of a special investigative committee of women appointed on 15 June 1675 by the Lower Norfolk County Court to physically examine Joane Jenkins, wife of Lazarus Jenkins, on charges of being "familer with evill spiritts and useing witchcraft." The examination took place on 17 June at the Lazarus home. Apparently, none of the signs associated with witchcraft were found, for the case against Joane was not taken to trial.
