  The 1900 census noted that Lucy had given birth to 7 children, of whom 5 were living on 5 June 1900. Married: The couple was married on 13 April 1871 at "Belmead", the Cocke ancestral home overlooking the James River in Powhatan County, Virginia. The Rev. Dr. J. H.
