• Notes

  Married: By the time that the 1733 Norfolk County tithable list was taken, Thomas owned twelve of the seventeen slaves who had been charged to Major Nathaniel Newton in 1731. Major Newton was not counted in the 1733 list. This suggests that at the death of his father-in-law, Thomas received the slaves as part of his wife Mary's inheritance.
